The free “Generate Barcode” function, previously provided by TalTech (freebarcodes.com), which we linked to our utility for the convenience of our labelers, is no longer supported by TalTech. This change does not affect the ability to generate HIBC data strings or any of the other functions provided in the HIBC UDI-Builder.
The HIBC UDI-Builder is intended to assist our labelers in creating valid HIBC data strings to confirm against the data generated by commercial labeling software. However, a small portion of our labelers have been using the HIBC UDI-Builder and TalTech’s utility to generate auto-ID structures for labeling. Due to the limitations of free software, HIBCC has always recommended that labelers obtain commercial labeling software.
HIBCC is currently evaluating alternative solutions for our labelers. Users that wish to continue to generate barcodes using TalTech can contact them directly or another labeling software provider for available options.
In the meantime, the sites below allow you to generate barcodes for free. You can generate the data string on the HIBCC utility and then copy that to the barcode generator.
If you would like to purchase commercial labeling software, the majority of our labelers use Bartender or LabelView.
All barcodes should be verified using a barcode verifier to confirm the data encoded and test the print quality. Labels can be sent to HIBCC for review of the HIBC data string only at info@hibcc.org.
